The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
