"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, taking four of the last five points to gain the advantage.
